Could i make my angel's trumpet bloom in a temperature that goes as high as 35 deg centigrade?

Datura Suaveolens (Brugmansia Suaveolens)


They belong to the family of the Solanaceae.


The beautiful trumpet shaped flowers are usually white with a lovely musk scent. There are other varieties with different colours such as pink, pale orange, %26amp; reddish orange. There is also a gorgeous double flowered variety.





Place of origin: Mexico (the plant is called ESTRAMONIO in spanish).





This means that they are used to high temperatures, and can handle them. This should not affect the flowering of the plant.. which usually blooms all summer. In a good climate even from may to october.





Just make sure they are watered every day in summer, preferably after sundown. and have them planted in rich loose soil





Remember. like many other plants of the Solanaceae family, they are toxic!

Here in TX, our angel's trumpet bloomed well in summer -but the leaves burned up in the heat. It simply needs just alittle less sun each day. On the flip side, keeping it where it is means it won't have a huge growth spurt and get even bigger...

Brugmansia? - blooms hand down.


Or a Datura? Blooms point up.


My husband and I have a passion for both of these and are collecting different colours of the Brugmansia.


Both love the heat, but the Brugmansia does do better with some protection form mid day sun.


Our average temp here in Barbados is 32 degrees but some days it feels like 40 plus, both Brugs and Daturas thrive.


PS. The Brugmansia is a heavy feeder, so feed with high middle number for lots of blooms, frequently.
Reply:you can't *make* it bloom but it should bloom without any trouble up to that kind of temperature ... in my part of Australia they grow well and bloom every year ... and we get temps that reach 40C every now and again.
